SafeLawns.org and the movie A Chemical Reaction will play a major role in potential pesticide reform in 2010 with planned appearances in most Canadian provinces. In a press release issued yesterday on the Canadian Newswire, the Canadian Cancer Society called for British Columbia to pass the nation’s toughest ban on cosmetic pesticides — and pointed out that a screening of the movie will be one of its tools: http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive/January2010/08/c7072.html.

As announced here recently, we’ll be in Vancouver and Victoria on Jan. 20-21, with panel discussions to follow both screenings. With many local politicians stating publicly that they don’t feel enough “evidence” is available to justify a ban, the fireworks could be interesting after the movie screens.

More than 100 elected officials in the British Columbia parliament were sent copies of the film in advance. Some of them are sure to come loaded for bear.
