SafeLawns to Celebrate Earth Day in Omaha in 2013
OMAHA, Neb. — The SafeLawns movement will be featured in Nebraska for the first time when founder Paul Tukey appears at the Earth Day Omaha 2013 event slated for April 20 at Elmwood Park.
“This marks our 44th state, along with eight Canadian provinces, where we’ve presented in the past five years,” said Tukey, who launched the SafeLawns Foundation in 2006. “We’re excited to bring this progressive message of safety and sustainability to Nebraska and we’re thankful to Rob and the team at Omaha Organics for making this happen.”
A division of Ground Solutions, Omaha Organics is the brainchild of Rob Elder, a lifelong lawn care professional who began filling the demand for more natural approaches for turf maintenance in 2008. In 2010 he also developed his own line of organic fertility products, utilizing many of the same materials local farmers use to feed animals.
“We’re leading by example,” said Elder. “It’s important for people to understand that they don’t have to sacrifice appearance when they choose a natural approach. So when they drive by my home they see the greenest lawn in the neighborhood.”
The simplicity of organics is a point Tukey and Elder will reinforce during question-and-answer sessions at the Omaha Organics booth at the Earth Day event. This year marks the seventh consecutive spring Tukey has toured North America in an effort to reduce reliance on synthetic chemical fertilizers, weed killers and insecticides.
“Omaha Organics is honored to host Mr. Tukey in its Earth Day booth this year,” said Elder. “As a widely recognized advocate and leader for the natural lawn care movement, Mr. Tukey’s presence is sure to inspire and educate Earth Day attendees in the importance of landscape sustainability and toxic pesticide reduction strategies. Omaha Organics shares Mr. Tukey’s passion in educating and providing homeowners and businesses with safe natural lawn care solutions.”
