Happy Anniversary to LawnReform.org

The date snuck up on me, but before it creeps away too far, I wanted to send along a shout out to LawnReform.org, the coalition of national garden writers dedicated to toxic pesticide reduction and resource management on the lawn. The two-year anniversary of the first post is this week.

The group has stuck to its agenda of providing good, solid how-to information, event notices and just enough opinion pieces to let folks know how we feel.

As I recall, eight of us were involved in the beginning and the list of bloggers, journalists and photographers has grown modestly, by design, to 13: http://www.lawnreform.org/members.html. MegaBlogger, and great ally and friend, Susan Harris, probably deservers the most kudos for her ambition, attitude and unflinching work ethic. If something needs to be said about sustainable landscaping, no one gets the word out there better than Susan.

If you haven’t yet visited the home site, or the Facebook page, there’s no time like the present. This is lawn renovation season, after all. What better time to reform your ideas in the process.

All of us Lawn Reformers thank you – and we’re so glad you’re part of our group! Keep up your great work campaigning for safe lawns, and we’ll do what we can to show people plants they can use INSTEAD of turgrass. Something tells me your mission will do more good for the environment in the long run, though – coz lawns will always be with us. Though we can hope for less of us, right?
Hope to see you soon in DC!
