Genetically Modified Alfalfa: Take Action to Stop It Now

As was reported last Thursday, the United States Department of Agriculture ignored the advice of hundreds of thousands of farmers, scientists, elected officials and concerned citizens and approved genetically modified alfalfa for planting this spring. The only way to stop this now is to get President Obama involved with an executive order to stop the practice.

    It is very handy to sign a petition but I am not sure about their effectiveness. A letter, even an emailed letter, to a legislator or individual involved in whatever the issue is is much more effective. I know it takes more time but it evidently carries more weight.

    Paul, your blog has turned me into a letter writer, especially at this time in the state of Maine when our environmental legislation is under threat. The republican statespeople need to hear from everyone who cares for the health of the citizens, the wildlife, all the ecosystems in the state of Maine! Keep Maine a leader among states – it is our motto!
